Sustainability commitments
We recognise the urgency of the climate crisis and are committed to minimising the negative environmental and ethical impacts of our business and in the process, driving towards net zero by 2050.
Our sustainability commitments outline our dedication to creating a positive impact across our business operations, with specific ambitions and targets in six key areas: renewable energy, low-carbon transport, digital and data, customer and partner engagement, work environment, and governance, monitoring and evaluation.
Renewable energy
We’re working towards switching our head office energy supply to more renewable sources. As we move towards greater electrification in our office space and the UK grid, we aim to ensure our energy demands are met by renewable, low carbon sources. Our operations favour energy-efficient devices, and we endeavour to run equipment in low-energy modes, like this website’s sustainable browsing settings.
Low-carbon transport
We actively encourage and promote low- and no-carbon transport options among our team, clients, partners and suppliers. This includes advocating for walking and public transport; supporting remote working arrangements whenever feasible; and providing electric-vehicle schemes for the benefit of all our staff.
Digital and data
We seek out cloud hosting providers that prioritise environmentally friendly practices, including the use of renewable energy sources to power their servers and data centres. We integrate cutting-edge digital development techniques and technologies within our digital infrastructure that prioritise energy efficiency and resource optimisation, such as by creating energy-saving ways to use our website.
Customer and partner engagement
We advise clients on the best low-carbon options for their projects, emphasising the environmental impact with specific criteria as to which equipment manufacturers we deem acceptable, in line with best industry practice. We are seeking to lead the transition to net-zero through our comprehensive approach, including participation in the Renewable Energy & Clean Technology Association (REA) and active membership of the Finance and Leasing Association (FLA) and National Association of Commercial Finance Brokers (NACFAB), adhering to their standards and protocols, ensuring you and your customers a reliable and green finance provider.
Work environment
We aim to align with our values by fostering a positive work environment for our team and stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, and contractors. This includes promoting a culture of sustainability, collaboration, and respect for the environment and people in all aspects of our operations. We plan to expand the scope of this work to include human rights and trafficking, formalising these measures with a documented screening process.
Governance, monitoring and evaluation
We work closely with our sister company, Horizon Energy Infrastructure (HEI), to establish clear metrics to monitor the environmental impact of our activities and those of HEI, using Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) measures set at the board level. We report on our progress quarterly, evaluate our impact annually, and adjust our strategies as necessary to meet our sustainability goals. This work includes a dedicated senior team member taking on the role of Sustainability Lead, leading and driving our commitments with the support of the senior leadership team.
These ambitions are guiding us as we look to minimise our environmental footprint. In the spirit of collaboration, we encourage all team members, clients, partners and suppliers to embrace our commitments to sustainability and its principles. Together, we can make a meaningful difference on our collective journey to a more sustainable future for all.
